Description
Hippos are known for their large size and their blubberous bodies. They are actually quite fast runners, and can reach speeds of up to 30 miles per hour. They are also excellent swimmers, and can hold their breath for up to six minutes underwater.
They are the third largest land mammal in the world, and can weigh up to two tons. They are also one of the most dangerous animals in Africa, with their sharp teeth and powerful jaws.
They're very social creatures, and live in groups called pods. These pods can contain up to 30 hippos. Hippos are very protective of their young, and will attack if they feel threatened.
