The ever interesting horseshoe crab is a living fossil that is more closely related to ticks, spiders and scorpions than it is to crabs. Their blood is blue! This is due to hemocyanin, blood pigment which contains copper. Horseshoe crabs can grow from 8 to 24 inches in length and 2.2 to 9.9 pounds. Females are generally much larger than males.
