Description
Axolotls are carnivorous creatures that feed on worms, small fish and insects in the wild. However, they've been known to also chow down on bought pellets, larvae, and bloodworms to keep their diet diverse. With this diet, they live for an average of 15 years, but some have lived for up to 40 years.
Scientists have been working with axolotls to study human diseases and use them in medicine to regenerate organs and tissues that could be used for transplants. If you think about it, its ability to regenerate limbs is a trait we'd love to have on our side when it comes to fixing injuries.
